Kind of you to say so. I didn’t think what I said was particularly insightful, and could have been more elegantly expressed. Often in the past when this subject has come up I’ve felt something like this needed saying: but I’ve usually been inhibited by the certainty that, whenever somebody from this side of the Atlantic dares to say anything at all about guns, however cautiously and mildly expressed, it will provoke the kind of puerile abuse of which post 7 in this thread is a pretty mild example.
