“People who really really really love guns also really really really love gun safes to keep them in, away from people who shouldnt have them, especially psychotic children....If theres a lesson here, its the get-serious-about-a-gun-safe lesson for all time.”
While I recommend gun safes to protect firearms from theft and to protect your underage children from access. I would NEVER require them. It is just BS to bring about gun control by a backdoor methodology. Next comes “inspections” of your home to be sure the firearms are “secured.”
No...what you are preaching is left wing dogma hidden by what sounds like good intent...but leads to more government intrusion into private ownership. It is NOT a conservative position.
It is WAY TOO early to be discussing ANYTHING remotely about restrictions or controls on firearms. The focus needs to be solely on the loss of life....the mechanism of the loss is actually irrelevant at this point.
I noticed you jumped at the chance to presume that I was an advocate of requiring people to have a gun safe, and to accuse me of preaching leftwing dogma. I said nothing about requiring anything. I spoke up about making an assessment of your own household with respect to your guns and who might conceivably get possession of them.
It's the same with dangerous medications or dangerous dogs. If you have them, make sure they're secure from every imaginable contingency.
I think your ministry of correction must be in overdrive today. You don't know me; yet you took it upon yourself to burn a bridge between us. You at least ought to have been able to ascertain that I've been on this forum since it came into existence. Leftwing dogma? Good grief. Give your ministry of correction and strident orthodoxy a rest.
