The manner of death for each of the victims was homicide, Carver said.
He added that two of the victims were shot at extremely close range, and each child was shot between three and 11 times.
Carver told reporters: 'I think everybody was hit more than once.'
Parents were not called in to identify their children. Rather, Carver's staff compared photos of the children given by the parents to the bodies.

While I agree with the assessment of the ME’s portion of the press conference, I was wondering if this was his way of dealing with the enormity of doing autopsies on all the children.
Having to process a scene with so much carnage has to have an effect. I am not making excuses for the guy, I just know from my experience in law enforcement that humor is a common thing to keep emotions in check. Still, he shouldn’t have made the “jokes” at that time and in that company.
The CSP was very careful what information they released yesterday. They did not state what weapons were used until about 10:30 today.
All of the local media was also very careful what they released as fact.
The national media on the other hand just went nuts, putting out more rumors than facts, at one time reporting that the murderers father had also been murdered in New jersey.
Well yes and no. Satan is happy because those children were murdered and were taken away from their parents. Yet he still pissed because they are ALL IN HEAVEN. God has new angels in his side. Satan can take the physical body but God has the power to destroy both body and soul. So I would still say Satan is a LOSER!

I agree, who would want to send their kids back in there, again? Perhaps it could be demolished and the open space could be used for a park or memorial.
A problem is that although it’s not a “poor town”, Newtown isn’t a rich one, either, like Westport, Darien, or Greenwich on the south end of Fairfield county.
Nor do I think the town’s remaining schools have room to absorb the 650+ students from the Sandy Hook elementary. Where are they going to go until a new building is constructed?
Perhaps the answer lies only 1.5 miles away — the old but serviceable buildings of the abandoned Connecticut State Psychiatric Hospital (what we used to call “Newtown”). The town has another elementary school right across the street.
If the leftie liberals in Congress want to do something that could really help the victims of this massacre, they could pass legislation appropriating funds for a new school, and include a waiver for any regulations that would delay quick construction.
Puttimg elementary school kids in an abandoned mental institution after their former school building became the site of a mass murder at the hands of a mentally unstable man sounds like the plot of a horror movie. Seriously bad vibe. Won’t fly.
I hope you didn’t go look at the pictures, it is heartbreaking. I can imagine loving everyone of them.

Question: Why was a 20-year old male even allowed inside ("buzzed in") during school hours -- especially a bizarre-acting one? (Unless he was 14 when his six yr old was born, there's no way he could have been a parent.)

I intended to recommend a security system like we had in a classified military building where I worked: a long, bulletproof steel entryway "anteroom", video monitored, with "buzzer"-controlled doors that could be opened only one at a time, that automatically locked, and could not be opened from inside the anteroom. IOW, it was a "man-trap". Once inside, you were stuck until you were personally recognized and "buzzed in" -- or the APs arrived outside to haul you off.

I suspect they will. They razed a McDonald’s in San Ysidro California after a guy freaked out (in August 1984) and killed 21 people. OTOH, they remodeled Columbine HS after the massacre there.

Latest report is Bushmaster with 20 30 round magazines taped together (60 round potential with only the need to reverse the two magazines once). Another long gun was left in the vehicle.
