Yes, we never should have signed onto it in the first place, but Canada had a dark period earlier during the Chretien Liberal years. At least we're trying to undo that mess. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

“The fact we were the first country to pull out gives us credibility; we were the first to say, ‘the emperor wears no clothes,’” Anders said Friday.

That’s going to leave a mark.

Round of applause for Canada. Nothing like a few far-north winters to cause the mental lights to come on, eh?

Canada, you were right, you guys DID win the war of 1812. So the State of Michigan rightfully belongs to you.

Yes, you dont have to take Detroit.

Oh yeah, God Save the Queen, and all that...

[Former] Liberal MP Stephane Dion, a main player in Canada becoming a signatory, called it a sad day. "Of course Kyoto was not enough. But even though, it was the beginning of something more compelling for the next phase."

here;s the kind of people behind this scam:

Elizabeth May: American born to a mother who was an antinuclear activist(SANE) and whose main achievement in life was running a restaurant in an old fishing schooner, until it was demolished to make room for a highway. No scientific education at all, mere lawyer and environmental idiot enthusiast. Lots of money apparently because father was a muckymuck in the health insurance game.

Stephane Dion: Career politician, Quebecker separatist, and studied "sociologie" in gay Paree. Also no scientific education at all. Just a leftwing flunkie.

These are the kind of people who want to map out our energy future for us. Despicable arrogance mixed with incompetence. Not to pick on Canada though. The US has the same level of intellectual slummers (eg, "millions of degrees" Algore) telling us what we should do as well.

Can we trade a few states for Alberta? To sweeten the deal, I’d toss in California .... wait a minute. That’s like BC, eh?

Very smart move.If I didn't enjoy Florida so much in winter, and like our superior (for the moment) health care system so much,I'd renounce my US citizenship and seek "landed immigrant" status in Canada.

I've learned a powerful lesson about "Kyoto" that most Westerners don't understand.I've been to China, several times.Recently.During the many days I've spent there in the last few years the *clearest* day I've experienced was far,far worse...in terms of soot, smoke, smog, etc in the air...than the worst day I've ever seen in LA.If Canada, the US,Europe and Japan were to outlaw electricity, factories and the internal combustion engine tomorrow China would, within a month, place on line enough coal powered electric plants (they have lots of coal too) and open up enough filthy factories producing crap products to cancel out any improvement in air quality resulting from *our* new policies.

"Kyoto" is China and the rest of the Third World trying to drag the advanced nations of the world down to their abysmal level.

Yes, we never should have signed onto it in the first place

Umm...we didn't:

Environment Minister Peter Kent pointed to the fact the United States and China - the two largest carbon emitters - never signed on as reason to abandon the agreement.
