It was one of the most tragic days in Connecticut history, and investigations continue into why, and how, a man could walk into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown and kill 20 children and six adults.
Police said 20-year-old Adam Lanza opened fire inside the school, killing children and adults before killing himself.

Inside the school, the Associated Press is reporting that a custodian ran through the halls of the school, warning of a gunman, and someone inside the school's office switched on the intercom, perhaps saving dozens of lives by letting them hear what was unfolding inside the office.
Screams were heard, just for a few moments, but they gave teachers enough time to realize what was unfolding from within the building and immediately locking doors and getting students away from windows and doors.(snip)
According to the Associated Press, three guns were found at the scene - a Glock and a Sig Sauer, both pistols, inside the school, and a .223-caliber rifle in the back of a car Lanza drove to the scene. A law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity said some of the guns used in the attack may have belonged to Lanza's family.

If just one teacher had been armed, this could have been dealt with.
Just another day in Obama’s Amerikkka.
That is awesome
Just a humble guess...but I don’t think he ever fired a gun in his life. And the .223 might have been a bit too complicated for him.
At the end of this mess...you will find that he was on meds. Recently, he probably switched meds, and he just wasn’t reacting right.
probably he was supposed to be on meds, but wasn’t
The answer is simple. CT gun laws made it possible for all these precious children to be murdered because no one at the school had a gun to protect them. The symbol for schools in such states should be the sitting duck, because it is obvious that gun control laws leave public places defenseless.
Hey! What’s wrong with the M1-carbine? :-)
She is mostly indoors. It’s more accurate than a pistol, and easier to control (from the kids, too :-)
Anything automatic seems too dangerous to be using among all those children.
the second amendment makes possession of guns legal...
the act of killing innocent children is the criminal act.
i do not question his carrying the weapons, or the body armor, but his intent was evil.
if he knew that there were any number of armed people at that school, he would not have attempted such a heinous act.
my prayers are with those who lost the world in the taking of their children... they are with the Lord this day and the troubled young man shall be receiving his due.
Yup, even early reports were saying the AR15 was in the car, but that will be the first thing Obama trys to ban.
All the guns belonged to his Mother.
All the guns belonged to his mother/teacher.
He was probably taking bath salts
In all seriousness, I want one of those in my classroom! I’m a high school teacher and, in light of yesterday’s events, I feel my constitutional rights to bear arms, to protect and defend myself are being denied.
I can fully envision some of the students I teach carrying out nightmare scenarios like the one we’ve witnessed in CT. For my protection, the government offers me an “active shooter” policy which basically makes me AND MY STUDENTS sitting ducks. We are in Final Exam week (continuing on Monday). Most of my students, having been failed horribly by a broken educational system, will find it “challenging” to take and pass some/most of their exams. I seriously wonder sometimes whether the eye-opening realization that, “Hey, I’m a Junior...how come I can’t read and understand better,” will result in some of these walking time-bombs going off.
I want to be able to protect myself with more than a stern, “Johnnie, you put that gun down this minute, you hear me!?”
Somehow, I think the parents of my students want something more in place, too.
She wasn’t a teacher at that school, according to what I read, the teachers at that school never heard of her
Bring your pistol anyway, you have an obligation to yourself and your students. It could be moslem terrorists next. Don’t whine about your “rights”, exercise them.
That is not what they said all day yesterday.
