“The Army manual offends American fighting men today, too. Marine Gen. John Allen, the top U.S.military commander in Afghanistan, neither endorsed the manual nor agreed to sign a foreword written in his name. ‘ Gen. Allen did not author, nor does he intend to provide, a foreword,’ a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition said. ‘ He does not approve of its contents.’ “

As I have said before, I know General Allen to be a man of honor. He has the very greatest respect for the men and women in his command. This proves it.

It is my personal belief that he continues to serve only because long ago he took a sacred oath “...to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic...” and has devoted his whole life to fulfilling that promise.
