I heard a man tell of his conversation with a man from China. He asked the China man what it was like not to be Free.
Oh but we are as free as you in America. We can come and go, do anything we want to do as long as we "obey" the laws and rules. (One caveat:Other than leaving the country I suppose)
That China man is so right. As long as we "OBEY" the rules and "laws", we too are free in America.
Now isn't that something to think on?
Not new thinking. My father’s maxim was ‘obey the laws and pay your taxes and you can be or do pretty much anything you want to be or do.’ Unfortunately the politicization of daily life is starting to make the US something like the USSR where the rule was you could only act in ways and do things that were officially government permitted. A very big difference. The anti-smoking laws were curiously , the first step towards an ‘officially permitted activity and behavior ‘ regime.
