There are a large number of people serving in the military who don't think that's the case either. It would be racist to think that, after all.
When I retired from the Army last year due to age I was ready to be dragged out kicking & screaming (well, sort of). For me it was the end of a way of life & belonging to something much larger than self.
I regret to say now that I’m a happy retiree & no longer part of our Dempseyized PC military. The Taliban sensitivity manual just about takes the cake.
Yes, if the American soldier can accept this, our goal of "Nation Building" has failed miserably in Afghanistan; they didn't become more like us, we became more like them.
