For much of the electorate, politics is now tribal. I don't just mean the 93 percent of blacks and 71 percent of Hispanics who voted for Obama, but various other demographic niches, from impoverished single women to upscale gays. If you know whether someone's black or lesbian or a college professor, you can guess how they vote and be right nine times out of ten. They are beyond questions of economic or foreign policy: Their self-identification trumps politics.

True, Steyn nails it!

Trying to pretend that we can get their vote by 'appealing' to their particular dogma is self-delusion.

Steyn ping. A classic. GOP take note. This is a battle for the culture and we aren’t even in the game.

Really? I thought that Benghazi-Coward B. Hussein Obama failed his test of courage and loyalty during the Benghazi Massacre.

In real life, al-Qaeda could not have a better friend than requiter, Benghazi-Coward B. Hussein Obama.

And in the long run they might have done rather better had they used the dough to start a movie studio or buy a TV network.

Maybe that's not such a bad idea.

Was going to see the latest Bond flic, but after learning that Danial Cretin has the mind of an idiot (apparently mandatory for acting these days), he can shove his movie up his smelly Obama.

Nothing about Bond’s ‘evolving’ sexual orientation, I see.

Yet in statewide races, Republicans are still winning big victories. If Michigan can elect an all (R) government, then this country is not as far gone as we think. I just don’t get it.

Depressing, but probably utterly true.

We have "lost" the culture by default to the Liberals. Many of us assumed doing the right, moral, decent, and Constitutionally correct things would inevitably trump those doing the evil, selfish, self-serving things in their determined quest for power and control and in the end the genuine American Vision would ultimately prevail.

It does not appear it has done so. The Liberal enemy promoting unAmerican values has labored tirelessly and effectively prevailed over the decades in nearly every area where character is molded and opinion formed until we suddenly don't even recognize our own national landscape!

We are like strangers in a strange land. That is what it felt like after the last election.

This is not your Daddy's America. It is not even our America as we grew up and matured in it - working hard and paying our own way, serving in our armed forces, paying our taxes, being honest and charitable, going to church, being tolerant to others, and raising our families the best we could and assuming others were just doing the same.

Just Americans, all - maybe with a few different views, but with the same goals in mind.

Ha! Ha! The joke is on us!!

We have been subverted, blindsided, and sucker punched but a lot of it is our own fault. We ignored all the signs for years. Now, only a massive national revival of the spirit can save us.

Turning the culture around before the bonds of irreversible tyranny tighten and strangle us is unlikely despite some hopeful signs at the state level. The massive power of an obscenely unConstitutional Federal Government is descending rapidly on the America we knew and loved and it seems huge numbers accept the ugly changes. Little do most of them realize where it will lead and what sorrow and anguish it will bring to most of us.

We have forgotten our beginnings - both spiritual and cultural - so I suspect we will richly reap that which we have sown for the past century. The whirlwind is rapidly approaching.

If I did not believe the election was outright stolen, I would say this is the best statement of why we lost.

Steyn has the same view of the electorate that I do: that they are basically political morons. That is why they must be contradicted on an appropriate level.

Everybody step back a few steps and look at the big picture, and then dumb the message down and propagate it. Tell it to everyone you come in contact with. If you say it in terms that are simple enough, with enough conviction, it will register, because people are not morons in general, they are mostly just political morons.

We can try. Doing it from the ground up. The schools and colleges and the media will be counterpunching all the way, but I think it is all we have left.

Other than that, there is separatism. Not secession but a kind of cultural isolation of ourselves—a gated community of culture and ideology. I can’t think of any other alternatives, except maybe accept that the Lord has some rough times in mind for us.
