THE NAME IS MISLEADING
It isn't about a right to work but rather a right for workers to choose whether they want to join a union or pay fees that amount to union dues. The legislation prohibits what are known as "closed shops," where workers have no choice but to join a union or pay those fees.
IT MOVED SWIFTLY
The GOP majority used its superior numbers and backing from Gov. Rick Snyder to ramrod legislation through the House and Senate last week. They brushed aside denunciations and challenges by helpless Democrats and cries of outrage from thousands of union activists who swarmed the state Capitol hallways and grounds. Snyder signed the bills into law Tuesday, hours after the final House votes.
BUT DIDN'T OVER EASILY
Supporters, including Republican leaders in the Legislature and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, insist it's about freedom of association for workers and a better business climate...

The Marxists claim to be PRO-Choice, yet they are forming thuggish mobs to protest choice. I suppose this proves that they are not pro-choice at all.
In addition, when asked about the role of unions many members will default that the role of their unions are, “to protect us from abusive employers.” Well, let’s assume that is true. We also know that the largest unionized industry is government employees, which tells me that the most abusive employer is the government. So, these same marxists want the most abusive employer to also be in charge of making the health care choices for every individual.
They are all marxist morons, useful idiots!

It must occur at the “grass roots” level. Constitutional Conservatives must get involved in local party politics, support conservative candidates and VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES
“...helpless Democrats”!? LOL
“What union do newpaper writers belong to?”
I believe they used to be affiliated with the Soviet Union.
Amen. Conservatives need to focus on influencing public policy at the local level, including the state level. They are already having major successes there. As soon as Obama and his cohorts completely take away all power from state and local government, that's when we're really in a world of hurt.
“I think we should work on rebuilding the GOP, not destroying it and tearing it down.”
So tell us, how do you do that at the national level? What’s your plan for getting rid of the entrenched “leadership?” How do you propose that we go about getting rid of Boner and McConnell? I think you are right, but I don’t see any near-term way of changing the GOP.
I say we now call those 47% not paying income tax as "Free Riders"!
This is one of several liberal press articles I have read decrying (or should I say crying about) the passage of a Michigan Right to Work law. They have all failed to mention the fact that the unions attempted to, and failed to pass, an amendment to the Michigan constitution, which would have permanently placed Union Shops into the Michigan constitution. It was the resounding failure of this amendment that emboldened the Republican controlled state government to pass the Right to Work law. To me, this is an important piece of information.
“I say we now call those 47% not paying income tax as “Free Riders”!”
I agree. Let’s also add that terminology update to Illegal Immigrants!
Over easy with steak and texas toast...MMMM.
Could apply to half the people on ‘light rail’ here in the Twin Cities, too.
If the country can be saved, it will have to be at the state level.
The feds are feckless, clueless, hopeless morons.
Do you ever wonder why 535 of the advertised "best and brightest" display the I.Q. of a door knob?
