In the late 70s, I worked at a huge corporation that was partially unionized. The union workers were in my building, and I got an up-close-and-personal look at the quality and quantity of their work.
They finished their union-quota, one-hour’s work in about ten minutes, and they spent the balance of the hour in a very plush lounge doing their nails and their hair and chatting.
And woe betide anyone who finished her work in 9 minutes, too.
This went on for the entire day. They worked 80 minutes a day and played for the rest of the time.
In all fairness, that's a fault of management..
As long as production requirements are met and the product is in the hands of the buyer on time, everybody is happy.
Just curious, what was the company, what did they produce and what was the job classification of the union workers you are talking about?
