Conservative firebrand Glenn Beck has joined a growing chorus of Republican commentators in defending gay marriage, laying out a strong case for ending government opposition to letting same-sex couples wed.
"Let me take the pro-gay marriage people and the religious people — I believe that there is a connecting dot there that nobody is looking at, and that's the Constitution," Beck said during a recent segment of his online talk show. "The question is not whether gay people should be married or not. The question is why is the government involved in our marriage?"
While Beck's defense of gay marriage may seem surprising, given his far-right political views and audience, it is actually not new. Earlier this year, Beck said that he has the "same opinion on gay marriage as President Barack Obama" and does not see same-sex unions as a "threat to America."
Still, Beck's public renewal of his support for gay marriage comes at a politically significant moment for the GOP, which is working to reshape its message to appeal to a changing electorate. A Gallup survey released last week found that 53 percent of Americans are in favor of legalizing gay marriage, a number that has been steadily growing for the past decade.
Moreover, by couching his support for gay marriage in a libertarian framework, Beck makes the case for the right to look past differences on social issues in order to broaden their coalition to include all limited government conservatives.
"What we need to do, I think, as people who believe in the Constitution, is to start looking for allies who believe in the Constitution and expand our own horizon," Beck said. "We would have the ultimate big tent."

Defense of marriage is nazism?
That said, nothing I have heard from Beck tells me that he is in favor of redefining marriage.
I guess it's a pure coincidence that Beck makes this comment at the same time that
"We must not judge anyone for the feelings they experience," church authorities wrote, saying homosexuality "should not be viewed as a disease or illness."
Defense of LIFE is nazism? I guess defending against gun control would be nazism too, then, eh?

The fools in Germany that looked to the State to solve their problems ended up suffering in severe misery just like anyone here trying to get the State to solve their problems.
We have people in charge of our country that absolutely hate us, America and everything we believe.

Romney lost the election for the same reason Dole and McCain lost. They were not conservatives and conservatives stayed home in droves. If you want to win elections, run CONSERVATIVES!! Screw that RINO crap!!

This is EXACTLY what the Whigs were saying about slavery in the 1840s and 1850s. Lincoln and a few others embraced CONSERVATIVE principles of personhood and the sanctity of marriage and the GOP flourished.

1. A baby gets to live in Alabama, but dies in New York. Do you think THIS is constitutional (keep in mind that the 14th Amendment is part of the Constitution no matter how much libertarians detest it).
2. Two sodomites are allowed to "marry" each other in California, what happens when they decide to move to Oklahoma?
Libertarians want to give the individual states nearly unlimited power to destroy our society, all while denying the federal government's constitutional mandate to protect our Republic.
You’ve got it all backwards. This nation was founded on the principle that all men are created equal by our Creator and endowed with certain unalienable rights, including the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The federal government is prohibited by the constitution from infringing on these rights. The federal government is now trying to restrict our religious and economic freedoms. We are fighting against the federal government’s unconstitutional intrusions into our lives. To hell with the goose stepping feds!! They are the fascists here!!
And for that matter the ONLY REASON that either Bush won the three elections they won is because they were running against buffoons.

Yes, the states can and should resist. But so must we.
The only reason abortion, gay rights, etc., are even ON the national level is because of decisions made AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL by unelected, unaccountable Federal Judges.
We cannot solve a problem created by the unconstitutional imposition of the Federal Government into the inalienable rights of human beings (i.e, abortion) by attempting to do it at the State Level. We first have to attack the problem at the source, and in this case, the source is the Federal Government.
If we remove the planks against abortion and the sanctity of marriage and the traditions that have held this country together for the last 2 centuries, then we might as well surrender all of our rights and liberties, because Godless (meaning the Judeo/Christian God) government of any stripe always leads to tyranny.
By using a Nazi Analogy to try to put down those of us who are fighting at all levels to preserve not only our constitution, but the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity you are not only showing your ingnorance of the history of this country, but you are showing a contempt for the purpose for which this website was created.
I think you owe everyone on this thread a deep felt apology. I think you need to reconsider your godless libertarian philosophy and consider that godless libertarianism leads to rampant un-checked civil hedonism, which eventually destroys all civilizations.
You guys sure are anxious to defend Beck’s ventures into RINOism. Beck was a big Romney supporter even during the primaries. Romney was GOP-e!! The exact opposite to conservatism. If you don’t want to continue losing elections, quit listening to GOP-e RINO pushers.
