Parallel situation to that of 1972-1973 - Nixon was feeling “so much cockier” after coming off his re-election run, and established at the “King of the roost”.

It took most of a year and a half, but things did start unraveling for him with the few threads that were picked up on the Watergate break-in. And that was strictly small-time, nobody died, the markets were not seriously skewed, and our military capabilities still included some teeth.

With these dangling ropes and chains, from the “green-energy” loan guarantee bail-outs, the passage of a massive tax bill disguised as the “Patient Protection and Afordable Care Act”, the total “missing-in-action” response of the Current Occupant of the White Hut in Benghazi, the total smothering of ANY information that could be reliably obtained about the various aspects of this same Current Occupant prior to his arrival in Chicago, to the extralegal appointment of “czars” to oversee the most unwieldy and ineffectual set of policies since the New Deal, it seems an absolute contradiction in terms to call the current “reporting” of news events a “free press”. They do not press to learn the facts beneath the action, and they are not free. In any sense of the word.
