Woman Who Stalked, Killed Ex in Brooklyn Park Faces 40 Years
A woman accused of stalking and then killing her ex-boyfriend in his Brooklyn Park home pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder.
39-year-old Rochelle Lynn Inselman of Eden Valley was indicted for first-degree murder and faced life in prison without parole. "The charges were reduced when she agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder", said Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Dominick Mathews.
Inselman pleaded guilty to shooting and killing 41-year old Bret Struck on February 12th.
Every case requires good investigation and help from citizens, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said. This case needed even more of both because initially police had no strong suspects. But a citizen in this case went beyond the usual assistance when he found a gun box he thought was unusual and turned it over to police and that made justice possible.
According to the criminal complaint, Inselman was obsessed with Struck since their relationship ended in 2004. She hacked into his Facebook account and sent defamatory emails about him to his friends and relatives. She also stole his identity to open four or five credit card accounts.
Inselman will be sentenced to 40 years Tuesday.
why did they let the woman plead down? they could easily get her on 1st degree murder.
women always get lesser punishments for doing the same garbage men do. it’s just disgusting.
Interesting how they could have had "no strong siuspects" until the gun box was found. I'd wager they really didn't care and were forced to take action when citizens provided info...
