Around here you wouldn't get 5 minutes to park in the loading zone ~ or apron.

Now, about recklessly endangering chillun', they weren't endangered until somebody started shooting ~

Can you prove that? How long can one park there before being removed?

Wrong again. They were endangered the moment the adults committed a crime.

No. That would be what a CIVILIAN (and perhaps a non-cop security guard) should have done. A law officer is ALWAYS on duty. His/her responsibility to uphold the law doesn't end when they go off shift

Well than which is it? Is he on duty or is he working for Wal-Mart. Doing both at the same time is a conflict. IMO, Police should'nt be allowed to moonlight, but if he was on Wal-Mart's dime, he should'nt be playing the "I'm a cop" card.

Killed for a couple of steaks... wonderful... Guess they train them Off duty cops well on how to kill women, children and dogs.

From the linked article

If only he had not been occupying shoplifter land and interfering with her national aspirations ...

They can if the thief is attempting to run over them with a motor vehicle.

So if he is in the door, how do you run over him? Cars don't go sideways. Or was the driver trying to get away from the guy waving a gun? From the speculation here, the thief was not the driver. It is unknown that the girls knew the one went in to shoplift. The presence of children strongly indicate the people in the car had no idea her intentions.

Got a friend I work with, has a felony because he drove his friend into a gas station for some cigarettes. What he did not know is that his friend did not have cash, he had a pistol.

Guess he should have been shot for that huh?

A simple method of mine is to avoid such issues, I don't do stupid stuff and am always watching for stupid people to avoid.

Police Officer says halt, I halt, but when guns are waving, all I know is the situation is out of control and I have to fight or flee. Remember, fleeing is the just the beginning of defeat.

Not once did I justify or enable this womans actions. She was stupid, and a thief. But this idiot who shot in the doors of a fleeing car is a fool, and a dangerous one at that. Licence number, remember licence number. The Perp and or perps still go to jail. Nobody dies and More people shop at Walmart the next day.

Part of staying away from stupid people is not going to Walmarts that have trigger happy people wearing smiley face badges.

You really love criminals, don’t you? Thanks for playing the race card, so more people can see what a leftist you really are. And thanks for telling us about your getaway driver friend. May you be run over by a fleeing shoplifter’s car.

Cars don't go sideways.

That's false and irrelevant.

It is unknown that the girls knew the one went in to shoplift.

27 years old isn't a "girl"! From the article; "Harris County Sheriff's deputies have said that victim Shelly Frey, Tisa Andrews and Yolanda Craig were stealing when they were confronted"

Why are you a bleeding heart liberal scofflaw and criminal apologist?

Got a friend I work with, has a felony because he drove his friend into a gas station for some cigarettes. What he did not know is that his friend did not have cash, he had a pistol.

Your friend should be more selective in his choosing his friends.

this idiot who shot in the doors

A 26 year law enforcement veteran? Were you there? If not, you're making stupid allegations, criminal apologist.

Thanks for the update. Ping me again if you find out anything else. I don’t understand with the shooting so public why can’t they get the story straight.

"Cops cannot shoot someone for leaving the scene after a theft. Well, they can, but is against the law."

I don't believe that for a minute. And you have to remember this is Texas, where many things are allowed that are frowned on by the left coast types.

"What it all boils down to though is executing a person for shoplifting, or driving off after you’ve told them to stop after the commission of a non-violent act, both of which are not capital offenses. Now, if the person is trying to drive off after an armed robbery, in which someone was shot and or killed, the person is still armed, and a real threat to the populace, I’d see it different."

I doubt that the law makes those kinds of fine distinctions. And if it does turn out that he was in danger of his life as seems to have been the case, her accomplices will probably be tried for murder or manslaughter, despite the "lowly nature" of the actual crime.

It isn't a case of either/or, but of "both". A police officer, WHATEVER he may be doing off-shift, whether that be moonlighting for Wal-Mart, or eating donuts at Krispy Kreme, and who observes a crime, has the official duty to take action. There is no conflict.

Excuse me for coming into this discussion late in the game and only reading the first 50 responses.

My first thought upon hearing/reading about this event was what kind of “mother” leaves their children in the car while they are shoplifting at Wal-Mart?

I’m not exactly clear on that but I’m pretty sure they were not the children of the “suspect” that was shot. I read somewhere else that one of the ppl in the car was supposed to be babysitting those kids. Can U believe it? (unfortunately, I can)

My comments were directed to the original posts. Now we are being told it was inaccurate. No one here knows what really happened now, yet that never stops some from expressing their opinions. You seem to care a lot about how I “feel”.

This thread is a quandary for the worst factions here because no matter which side you opine for you are forced to support a group normally not supported by the lower elements.

On one hand you have cops who are often derided here as evil agents of the govt. On the other are the racists.
