I hear your pain, brother. I only served 6 years in the Navy, but I too am saddened by the fact that America has choosen socialism over freedom. After the re-election of Obama I retired all of my American flags and respectfully burned them. If socialism is what America wants then I am no longer proud to be an American.
I told my Mom what I had done and why, and (God bless her heart) she didn’t get it. While she is patriotic and has always tried to do the best for my family, she has been brain washed into thinking that Obama was the best choice. I tried telling her that one of the reasons I joined was to defend America AGAINST socialism, but I don’t think she really understands what is going on. I still love her of course, but it’s sad to see good people being fooled.
One more thing, I have one son in the Army right now, but I too, have told my other son not to join the military. The problem isn’t with the grunt level, the problem is with the command level. The good officers get out after one hitch and the majority of what’s left are uniformed “yes” men. I once thought wished the Joint Chiefs would stage a military coup, but with all the lame brains at the higher levels that might be worse then what we have now.
At the end of the day, America as the land of the free is circling the drain. She was a good and noble experiment, but in the end all things run by falible men will fail. Man’s best salvation and leadership is though God and I believe Jesus is simply showing mankind that we have tried all forms of government, but they all fail. It’s sad to be a witness to Americas failing, but in the end, it is inevitible.
“After the re-election of Obama I retired all of my American flags and respectfully burned them.”
I removed mine as well. I have them safely stored away with a small hope that we can fly the symbol of freedom again some day. I’m doubtful.
Amen to the rest of your post.
