For a public figure, a higher standard of actual malice would need to be met to prevail in a civil libel/slander suit. Kind of stinks how media can out someone to being a public figure at will, and maybe they technically can’t if the person systematically refuses news coverage to the best of his ability, even if the _resident himself talks about him — but once the person makes a statement that he wants to go in the news, poof I’d think he is now a public figure and can’t stuff that genie back into the bottle.
It’s not precisely a slam dunk but O’Mara would probably be foolish not to try.

I woudl think his lawyer could make hte case that he only became a public figure after he was maligned with malice by the MSM in order to try to defend his reputation agaisnt hte false and malicious claims by a news media that hid facts and manipulated facts in an effort to intentionally ruin the man knowing htat by doign what htey were doing, that probalbe race wars would ensue- which they did- george even had a death warrent taken out on his life and his family even suffered possible death at hte hands of an angry racist mobs because hte media intentionally misled the people i nsuch a way as to incite them to hatred against an as then non-public persona
