Repubs could announce "Yes, we are in favor of raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires," but just never bring up a tax bill!
If the country goes over the cliff, the Repubs can blame it on the Democrats, saying "we announced our support, but the Dems never voted for it."

Ummm, if Congress does nothing the Bush tax cuts expire—and taxes go up.
