No matter what the Republicans do, they will be blamed for the resulting fiscal mess.

Unless, they offer no resistance whatsoever. That may be the only way to escape blame and hang the economy on Obama. At this point, the only thing we can hope is that Boehner is engaging in "rope-a-dope".

Hoping for the GOP to do anything that a conservative approves of is a long wait where a train don't come.

The problem with that strategy is that the Republicans in congress were hired to prevent it.

If (well, "when") Boehner bends over -- if conservatives were uninspired by McCain and uninspired by Romney (Obama lost some 4 million votes between 2008 and 2012. Where did they go? Not to Romney.) -- they'll be completely uninspired by the GOP in 2014 and 2016.
