Not comparable.
They didn't have half of the country sucking at the government teat. Nor was the Union taken over by Marxists who hated the founders. Neither the North or the South had become taken over by a bunch listless, self loathing "progressives". Neither side would recognize what America has become today.

My entire point was that it isn’t comparable. There is no credible way to say the Republic is in worse shape today than during the Civil War.
