Darden Restaurants Inc. wont be looking as good as expected next week when the restaurant company is set to release its second-quarter earnings, it said Tuesday.
The Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse parent lowered its profit and revenue projections for the quarter ended Nov. 25, blaming sour promotions in its eateries, Superstorm Sandy, its purchase of the Yard House USA chain and even its efforts to mitigate the coming costs of healthcare reform, also known as "Obamacare."

We have lots of restaraunt choices here, but three have just been eliminated. I used to love Red Lobster in the 90s and was dating someone who loved Longhorn. Now, all are out of my life and no longer on my list of choices. Miss the girl, tho...
Since it was just the two of you, that sure sounded egregious. But again maybe they expected you to notice them seating others and walk up to the desk.
I visited an Olive Garden several times over the past few months. I always went to the bar counter. Several times they gave me free items. Once they forgot the chicken on my Alfredo, and served me both the original and the replacement while billing only for the original (cheaper, no chicken). Once they apologized for not having a spatula for my pizza because customers apparently kept stealing them and they were out. I tipped a normal table-type tip at the bar, which is more than they usually get at the bar. So it might vary considerably from site to site. One thing I think might have been lousy is the sanitation in bar serving. I caught two colds and one flu that I think was tied to Olive Garden.
Our local Olive Garden used to make this big show out of a guy out front with dough making a bunch of fresh pasta. Then one of the waitresses confided to my wife that the pasta they were actually serving us was Barilla.
Barilla is not a bad pasta. It’s what another local Italian eatery uses.
Frankly, fresh pasta is only good for certain preparations, basically white sauces. Up against any kind of red sauce, you want dried pasta so you can get some texture. You can’t make fresh pasta al dente.
props
LOL my wife thought for years that all pasta was aldente - she prefers mush now - but then again - she likes miracle whip too
I modified my diet last year to exclude traditional pastas over gluten and carb issues.....I abhor wheat pasta and have found that Barilla makes a nice squash and carrot pasta with the same "bite" as the real stuff - counts as a serving of veggies too... cooks faster too
Noting against Barilla, I eat it at home all the time.
But they were definitely selling the impression that you were getting fresh pasta.
The last time we went to OG was many months ago (before that it was many more months ago, don’t frequent it often). We also sat at the bar for dinner. The bartender gave us excellent service and free wine tasting and also some kind of mixed drink to taste. She did a great job, the food was good and we left saying that we would be back.
After reading about Darden, we’ll never go to OG again. Or RL. We already won’t set foot in the door of JCP. Go to heck, lib lovers.
I don't even know if this Olive Gardens has a bar..Neither me or my husband drink..You see this was my first time ever to try that place..It will be my last..
A textbook snub, though why the dear spouse didn’t say let’s just walk back up and ask for a table now is also inexplicable.
