Republican Sen. John McCain became so fed up with a Republican colleagues efforts to block the National Defense Authorization Act on Monday that he suggested in a floor speech that perhaps Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reids push to change the rules of the filibuster was not a bad idea.

Yup! AND -- there was a move afoot to close the primaries in 2010, till McBackStabbingAisleReachingTraitorToHisConstituents, via the RNC's purse strings, made the state party stop pursuing it. See, he even knows he needs Dem aisle crossers (and $20 a vote) to win a Republican primary! Waste of perfectly good oxygen.
Not sure. Can any Arizonans on this board answer that question?
Done and done! See #41.
“the war hero in AZ.”
You mean the “enemy collaborator”.
From surviving the Hanoi Hilton to becoming a total POS. It’s almost unbelievable. For the precious few who might not already know, the NDAA allows the gov’t to snatch American citizens off the street without charge, without legal representation and they can hold you indefinitely.
Traitorous, soulless filth.
Good cop, bad cop. That’s the winning ticket for Lindsey Graham and McCain. One rubs our tummy while the other kicks our shins, then they switch, like clock work. Now, they are training Ayotte to play Lucy with the football. WE, of course play Linus.
This little plot is scheduled about four times a year, so it even has quarters, like a real game.
Could have been more accurate though. Dems can't vote in Rep Primary, nor vice versa. Indies, however, can choose which party to vote in the Primary, so there is certainly some crossover voting, which I detest. Lots of "Indies" aren't independent. However, it is inaccurate to say AZ's Primary system is "open."
We tried that in 2010. He fought for his seat in the primary election far harder than he fought for the presidency two years earlier, and he ran as a born-again conservative. His seat is up again in 2016.
The Obama babies of 2008 will all be up for re-election. Here's hoping we turn it into another 1994,
GAHHH!! Between McCain and Boehner we’ve got a pile of losers. We “had” the house until Boehner started firing people.
McCain ping!
McCain dishonors Barry Goldwater, whom he replaced.
Is that right? I thought it was completely open.
There was an attempt to really screw things up on the ballot this year...one of the props was to create a “top two” Primary, with everybody’s name on one ballot, running the top two vote recipients in the General in November. Thankfully, it lost by a good margin. As of now, it’s the partly closed system, which I don’t like.
Oh, I know, what a mess that would have been.
In what policy areas is McCain considered a Republican? Pro-defense?
Yes, plus when he runs, there’s an (R) next to his name. That’s about it.
(Ping to #58 !!)
Yeah, like the Redistricting Commission. I used to be in Jeff Flake’s CD, now I’m in Sinema’s, which will probably be forever Dem because it has all of Tempe and most of North Central Phoenix dragging us down.
