'Permanent solution to a temporary problem'...

If one is 47 years old, and has been dealing with increasingly worse mental health issues since one was about 15, does that sound 'temporary'?

Just a hypothetical.

Compared to what? I suppose- believing in God gives me a very long view of things.
Being 52 and having worsening fractures in my back since I was 15 I consider a temporary problem so yes!

Please don’t get the idea that I do not feel sorry for a person with long term mental illness or that I do not understand that compared to pain mental and emotional distress is can be far more debilitating. It’s more that I never see suicide as a good way out of anything. When I was 14 a man with emotional issues came around to see my Dad. Dad was not home at the time. I knew the man had problems so a I offered for him to wait for Dad.

He said no thanks - drove to a private spot and killed himself. Suicide hurts those left behind far more than a person in distress can appreciate at the time.
