Yeah, I hope to homeschool but if I don’t and he is in a public school my boy will be taught to be respectful, to turn the other cheek etc, but be self motivated. By self motivated I mean he will be taught to THINK and trust his own understanding, judgment and he will know that Dad will ALWAYS back him up.
You obviously have great intentions, but I feel you're not getting the reality of the situation. Do you think that kid's parents told him when he was little "Never go to the bathroom without explicit permission or ELSE!"? No, but he still bowed to the teacher's authority regardless. He's only in 2nd grade, maybe 3rd, and he's already broken-in by the system. Why would your son have any better chance? You have no idea if you're any more supportive of your son than these parents are of their's. Remember, we're talking little kids here; they know they're supposed to listen to adults in an authority position, so they do. If they don't, they're discipline cases.
It's obvious there is no shortage of teachers who have ZERO sense and will abuse children due to their stupidity. As the saying goes, "the only winning move is not to play."
