A WGN TV report by Mark Suppelsa now raises serious doubts about Mayor Emanuels decision to award the OHare cleaning contract to United Maintenance. "In light of this report, we call on Attorney General Lisa Madigan to start an investigation into United Maintenance and this key public contract. We call on the City of Chicago to rebid the contract and choose a responsible bidder that will protect good jobs at OHare airport," said SEIU Local 1 Secretary-Treasurer Laura Garza.
More than 300 janitors at OHare airport may lose their jobs right before Christmas this year because Mayor Rahm Emanuel awarded a key public contract to a cleaning contractor with a history of not only undercutting good jobs, but now the issue has been raised of mob ties of the owner of the firm.
