But look at Rush--he can only handle a woman who is nubile and barely started in adulthood, but he never gives her a child. He needs the nubile woman because she doesn't have the life experience that he has had which would threaten his life, which consists of "getting his way." Despite his whining, it is much easier to get your way with someone who is very inexperienced with life and people.

And I'm experienced enough to know that his chief problem with women is that he can't handle not getting his own way.

And Rush, I just love you. But it is what it is, as you often say. I use the kind of critical thinking that you always insist I use, all these many years I've listened.

You demonstrate my point in post 119, perfectly.

Do you know Rush, and his private life, in detail, or was that little discourse of yours just speculative?

as long as women continue to capitalize on their generally superior verbal skills

You need to capitalize on your non-verbal skills. As a culinary professional, I suggest beer, pickled eggs, and herring for breakfast.

It's very difficult to continue an argument when one party is wearing a MOPP 3 suit and mask.

I don't get any arguments around here. It's a very calming thing.

One evening at Bible study, the youth minister quoted from Genesis 26:8-9 to state that young men should treat their girlfriends exactly as they would treat their sisters. I don't think a young man who sees a girlfriend as being exactly like his sister would want to marry her. Such was the teaching at this church.

Never trust anyone who thinks their video game experience translates into real world skill, or believes a book can imbue them with the discernment of God.

What 20 year old is going to be interested in a forty year old unless he can provide like a king?

You've never been to college?

Sweet justice?

You're sicker than I thought, and still stand for nothing.

Anyone (other than your two posse fellows) who has encountered you know you're nothing but a misanthrope, someone who hates everything and hangs around here posting all day with no real objective other than pissing and moaning. You don't like anything or anyone, have no life and likely have no friends, no life accomplishments, nothing in the way of character.....sort of like DUers and KOS kiddies. Other than that, you might be okay......aside from living in your mother's basement

Ok you silly little woman hater, I responded because I was under the impression that when one makes a nonsensical comment, I CAN respond to it :)

Not sure what seekandfind has to do with any of this. I made no direct comments to them regarding their perspective.

Maybe the reason you seem to have so much trouble with woman is due to to your innate inability to be kind and decent.

petulant?! C’mon, is this for real?! Grow up.

I like this article and it basically held true to my own experience. I married in my early 20s and my wife and I started with pretty much nothing. We bought our first home together after living for a while on mac & cheese and baked beans. Now that our kids are grown up, we are financially secure and taking trips to Hawaii and such. We've come a long way.

It's also sad to see that many of my counterparts dump their first wife for a "trophy wife". For a man, your first marriage is always for better and for worse. But most times, a woman is only marrying you for better the second time around - as soon as the money stops flowing in, she's gone and she'll take you for whatever you have left.

i didnt respond to your earlier Post because it was puerile. I'm guessing your ideal woman who is half your age plus seven may be seventeen?

I've listened to and enjoyed Rush since Bush the Elder. I remember when his mother was alive and sometimes talked on the show and when he was courting Marta. My affection for him is boundless--except when he starts talking about women. My regard for his wisdom is large--unless he's talking about women.

Rush is a man's man. He appears to enjoy the company of men and regards women as necessary but somehow wishes he could do without them. He doesn't have the kind of admiration for his mother that he has for his father and grandfather.

He doesn't really like them much. They always have competing agenda and he's highly masterful and successful and nobody's agenda is as good as his agenda. He gets his way and when you're married sometimes you don't get your way and he cannot handle that.

He loves his arm candy. When he married Katherine he was always boasting of her beauty, of how she was "the best in the room". This really made me kind of uncomfortable. There is a certain kind of man who can only love with his eyes and it can't make it's way to the heart. That's Rush and it is a sad thing to say. When he stops loving with his eyes he'll stop loving, period.

My husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary yesterday.

Congrats!

It's wonderful that some can do that without poison or blunt object coming in the way. ;)

I do love the fairer sex, and respect marriage. However... after a few decades of trying that... some of us are best left the heck alone. I would be one of those.

I do counsel my nephews and young men that I meet to think carefully, and long before commitment.

Where on earth did you get the impression I have "so much trouble with women?"

I've been married to the same successful, professional woman, who owns her own business, has numerous professional awards (and a couple of Peabodys) for over twenty-five years.

I'm no more of a "silly little woman hater" than Ann Coulter is.

The mistake you are making is the same as we see permeating the youth culture today. They have had "homosexuality is not a moral issue" jammed down their throats so hard, they now believe the only reason one can condemn the practice is because there's something wrong with the critic.

Your particular chauvinism is simply the older version that was aimed at eroding traditional male authority.

As a general comment on the article...marrying young is absolutely better than marrying late, if your marriage holds together.

If.

There are more pressures on young marrieds due to the challenges of immaturity. If you surmount them, you have something extremely valuable, a lifetime of facing challenges with a supportive mate.

I'll go another step farther. Having children young is better. You have more stupid misplaced confidence when you're younger, which is useful in raising children in a world that has started to hate children.

Oh, and as an addendum on Rush — Sandra Fluck was absolutely a slut and I wish he hadn’t apologized for saying the truth about her.

So you don’t know him personally, and everything you’ve said is basically you talking out of your poop-chute.

Pray tell, what motivated you to develop such an exhaustive and nuanced narrative about a person you don’t know; a narrative whose only goal seems to be explaining Rush’s multiple marriages without laying any responsibility at the feet of the ex-wives, I might add?

Inquiring minds gotta hear this one....

There's something I tried to live my life by in my younger years. I still try it on, sometimes, to see if it fits. ;)

On that we can agree.

I cancelled my 24/7 subscription when he apologized. His apology was a slap in the face to all those who defended him.

Oh gee paper...your comments are ridiculously snarky and have that all too familiar air of a man who believes he has all the insight into how women think, and feel.

You are a sad sack and your analysis of me and how I view men is so off the mark it’s mildly entertaining!

Keep working yourself into a knot over women who don’t worship little men like yourself, I’m sure it feeds your little ego.

And yes paper, your words read like a man who has ZERO respect or regard for women. Maybe that was not your intent...
