I think it is long overdue to simply end all benefits to American corporations which move overseas.

And punish those which import.

Move jobs back to America, and stop importing everything.

We have swung (wildly) in favor of imports. That must end.

I'm highlighting the above sentence because it is textbook scape-goating. You cannot, on the one hand, claim that the benefit of your policy (jobs) accrues to the individual, but on the other hand, argue that the cost (taxes) accrues to an inanimate object.

Yes! Let's start with imported oil.

Should we double the price of imported oil? Triple it?

I think Paul Schiffer's proposed bill provides a defensible distinction for when to punish imports. If China is selling a native Chinese product, it is not fair to punish them exporting their products. But if they are building a US product in China that was simply transported to China, I think we can refuse to recognize that as an authentically Chinese product. It is a US product whose factory was simply moved from the USA to China.

We have the Republicans destroying the lower middle class worker from the outside and the Democrats from the inside. The hypocrisy meter is pegged on the Republican side, they claim Freedom while dealing with third world dictators and Communists. But the real hypocrisy is blaming the "lazy" US worker for being the problem, wanting freebees while outsourcing their jobs to make a few pennies on the dollar..

At least the Democrats are honest, they just want socialism, and they are up front about it.
