Describe it to me. Seriously, I’m dealing with a coworker who has had an apparently terminal diagnosis and I’m concerned she’s going to kill herself. The hopelessness in her eyes is like the pits of hell. She’s very distraught about her daughter but emotionally flat about most everything else. Except offers to pray for her. She becomes irate. I had believed her to be Christian. Is she in shock? I’ve been acquainted with a couple of people over the years who killed themselves. They just went and did it, leaving everyone to wonder why, wracking their brains for what they’d failed to recognize.

In Ephesians 6:12 St Paul describes what we battle against and it’s not flesh and blood, it’s the spiritual realm. The devil and his demons work to steal, kill, and destroy. What I have learned through going through hell in the past year is that these spirits will come upon you when you are weak ( suffering from depression for example) and they manipulate you in such a powerful way that you feel suicidal even though it’s not your feelings but the spirits or demons projecting that into you so you will kill yourself. The pain feels like it’s your own when it isn’t. When I’ve made it through, I marvel at how I could have even entertained the idea knowing I would never want to hurt my family or endanger my soul.

In Daniel 10, you see that when he prayed God sent an angel to answer his prayer and even though the Prince of Persia, a demon, tried to hold him up the angel was able to get to Daniel. You also see this evidence when Christ was praying in the wilderness the angels were sent to Him. He also defeated the demons with the Word of God. St Paul also said to pray and use the Word to defeat the evil spirits.

You pray for your friend and ask God to release angels to defeat the demons that are oppressing your friend. Even if she seems angry about it your don’t have to tell her just do it. While your praying, read scriptures that talk about Christ victory over the evil of this world.

The reason I know this works, beyond the Bible, is I have a friend who had been praying for me and through that prayer I realized what was going on and was able to pray and fight as well. Before that, I was like your friend being very angry with God and feeling abandoned by Him. He showed me through my friend that He had never left me or forsaken me. :) The same can happen for your friend, too.

“They just went and did it, leaving everyone to wonder why, wracking their brains for what they’d failed to recognize.”

After much research on the topic I have come to the conclusion that every human has a ‘life-wish’ and a ‘death-wish’. Under normal circumstances the ‘life-wish’ is more powerful than the ‘death-wish’. It is believed that a chemical imbalance that can occur at any time during one’s life, causes the ‘death-wish’ to become more powerful than the ‘life-wish’.

There is still extensive, ongoing research to try to find out why it happens. It seems to happen randomly in people from all walks of life.

Your friend is going through the stages of grief. She is at the anger stage; very irrational stage. I remember making it home after my dad died; mom was at the depression stage. She was throwing food away, how she wouldn’t need food anymore as she only made it for him.
