This will be apostasy to many of Ms. Rand’s fervent followers but I always recommend that new readers start with The Fountainhead.

Fabulous book (though it has been 25 years since I last reread it, for about the 10th time), compelling, inspiring, fraught with suspense, and you get the pure, powerful fundamentals of Rand’s thinking without the many, many pages of overt philosophizing that come in Atlas Shrugged.

You can move on to Atlas Shrugged after you tear through Fountainhead. Enjoy!
