I read the whole article. I must be out-of-touch with current events. I was under the impression that “Going Galt” meant that it was necessary to shoot thugs who try to rob you in subways. In other words, just start shooting to right the wrongs of society. Am I in error or just behind-the-times?

You are in error.

“Going Galt” comes from Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged” and (speaking very basically) means that the hard-working, productive and principled portion of the populace simply withdraw from society, relocate somewhere secure and begin to build anew.
