No, because Santorum was hardly perfect either, but he was a better candidate than Newt, which translated into actual votes and victories before Team Romney finally outspent him at the end.
And I've been following Team Romney's skullduggery ever since they first set their sights on Sarah Palin in September 2008, and so that argument doesn't fly either.
