I’m perfectly aware that there are some evil a-holes out there, fortunately, with one or two exceptions, they’ve rarely bothered with me. I’ll be honest with you, if I was living/working in certain areas of the US I certainly would carry a gun and more importantly, make sure I was trained to use it properly.

I live in England however (well spotted whoever did that). England is quite a densely populated country, and you are never too far from another person. Most of us don’t even live in detached houses (we tend to live in semi-detatched, terraced houses, or apartments. From my perspective, it is easy to imagine the danger posed by flying bullets if they were used, even in home defence. This is the concern I have with the use of guns in self-defence, I don’t have a problem in bad guys suffering from their own stupidity, but they are not the only factor, and that is the main point I have been driving at. When I look at some of the people surrounding me, the idea of them having a gun that fires bullets at high-velocity doesn’t inspire me with confidence, and it strikes me that most people seriously overlook this fact when they are talking about guns and self-defence. When I read the story about her shooting at the robbers and missing I just imagine bullets flying into the high street with other people about and I understood why the police would have concerns with this, which nobody else seemed to have even considered. Frankly, if its a choice between letting the robbers take the stuff, and innocents getting hurt (i.e. not just you) then I say let the robbers take it and let the police catch up with them later.

This statement right here is why have haven't gotten nor deserve any respect. I have seldom seen a more pompous and self impressed piece of blather in my life.

You really think you are the only one who considered this? You are sure as hell a lot more impressed with yourself than any of us are.

There are little thing that gun owners think about every time they pick up a weapon such as know your target and what's behind it. Also never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to destroy.

Little fella I really feel sorry for you if you think that none of us have thought about every single thing that you can imagine and then some.

As to the England thing some of your posts were so self aggrandizing in a pussified way that it was clear that you aren't an American.

Again, the robbers had a gun. The woman took the appropriate action. Her only mistake was not hitting the robbers.

We get that the police would have been surrounding your bullet-riddled body with a chalk outline in the same situation. It now is becoming clear to me why Brits gave up their gun rights and their gonads to the UK nanny state.
