Everyone in Washington fears the fiscal cliff. The White House has no interest in going over. Democrats understand theyll never have more power than they do now. Delaying a budget deal until after January means getting less of what they want.
Republican leaders, meanwhile, live in fear of another 1995 government shutdown. When two sides fail to reach a deal, the media blame Republicans. Thats the lesson Republicans learned 17 years ago. They shudder imagining the headlines if negotiations were to break down next month: Norquist-controlled GOP forces America off cliff. Nothing terrifies them more than that. Theyll do anything to avoid it, as Obama knows well. (Hence his advantage.)
The business community fears the cliff too. Federal contractors stand to lose millions if budget cuts take effect. And nobody wants to see unemployment rise or the economy fall back into recession, both of which would likely happen if Republicans and Democrats cant make a deal.
So theres a lot to worry about with the fiscal cliff. Congress should leap off anyway. At a full run. Face first. Yes, its a scary prospect. But not as scary as the alternatives.

We need to go over Obama’s Fiscal Cliff to see what permanent damage it does to Americans.
The majority of voters want to go over Obama’s Fiscal Cliff, and Obama wants financial Revenge.
It is a guaranteed lose-lose BiPartisan Compromise.
FORWARD !
Raising taxes on the “rich” is estimated by the CBO to bring in somewhere between $80B and $100B per year. The deficit next year is currently projected to be about $1300B. As Greta keeps saying, that runs the government for 7 to 10 days.
Conclusion: raising taxes on the “rich” is not about reducing the deficit, it is about class warfare.
Note - Geithner’s proposal to the Republican leadership was to raise taxes on the rich by $160B per year, but then to increasing spending by over $100B for “stimulus” and the extension of unemployment payments. I saw that on Fox News, but nowhere in the MSM.
Class warfare and to slowly topple small businesses one after another so no one directly correlates it to the Democrat’s policies. Killing America without triggering revolt takes time.
I agree - and my paycheck is one of those that would stop until they sorted it out.
