If you recall the Budget control act automatically extended the debt limit a second time this year to get O through the election.
As long as O can successfully get voters to blame congressional Rs for anything that goes wrong these conditions are just formalities, O gets whatever he wants.
Rs don’t seem to understand that. They don't understand that voters need to be won over to have any success.
More recently I see Grover on TV shows trying to make the case that it is Obama pushing us off the cliff, not the GOP.
But that battle is long lost as they all seem to be by the time these confrontations hit.
One reason why the congressional Rs keep getting beat by O is the same reason (a reason) why the Romney campaign got beat by the O campaign in the election in swing states: Obama’s strategy is pro-active, Republicans is re-active,
By the time each of these confrontations takes place the battle is already won by Obama.
So the only act left is the drama about when the Rs surrender,
Victories take some planning ahead.
I wonder what would have happened if the GOP house had refused to pass the budget control act. The GOP would still get the blame, and Dems and media would have shown outraged Americans who could not get passports, the US credit rating crashing, etc.
Pelosi might be speaker now. Not that Boehner is much of an improvement.
