Whats wrong with teaching your children the right and wrongs of using and owning a gun? What a moron! I guess knives, forks, baseball bats, frying pans, stoves, coffee pots, etc... should not be in the house either!
My dad taught me common sense safety rules when I was so young that I can't remember how old I was, I'd go hunting with him from about 6 years of age and he'd drill those rules in, I was actually carrying a rifle or shot gun on those trips by the time I was 9 or 10.
Nowadays are different for many kids. First problem, What's a dad? In those cases mom can step up and be responsible.
