I am not so sure that we don’t know what happened and what was going on. follow along with me here.
Back in June, Morsi extracted a promise from Obama to release all Islamic prisoners. Then Mohammed al Zawahiri gave a CNN interview that was shown in Canada on 9/11, but withheld in the US. In that interview, Zawahiri offered what he called a peace plan, but was really just the list of demands that Osama Bin Laden issued before the 9/11/01 attacks.
His six-page proposal offers a 10-year truce if the following terms are met. In brief they are:
• U.S. and West to stop intervening in Muslim lands
• U.S. to stop interfering in Muslim education
• U.S. to end the war on Islam
• U.S. to release all Islamist prisoners.
In the interview, al Zawahiri also stated that contrary to what Obama has been saying, Al Qaeda was diminished, but not gone.
In Egypt the 9/11 protesters were chanting that they were all Osamas now, Obama, not mentioning anything about a You Tube video.
Then in Benghazi, Al Qaeda sent another message to Obama, a stronger message, that if he didn’t carry through with his promise, Al Qaeda would renew the jihad against the West.
I think that the Obama administration knew that the protests and the attack was coming and came up with the video narrative ahead of time. I don’t think that Obama thought that Al Qaeda would actually kill anyone.
While we are all focused on the budget show down, Obama is taking steps to capitulate to the demands of Morsi and al Zawahiri, actually to the demands of Osama Bin Laden. First by closing Gitmo and second by declaring an end to the war on terror, and making peace with Al Qaeda. There’s an article in the WSJ, entitled, The Pentagon’s Lawyers looks to end Terror. They don’t mean actually ending terror, just the war on terror.

If my memory serves me right, the attacks against US consulates orchestrated with the video meme, started the day before the Benghazi attack ? But DC could have also just jumped onto the video bandwagon, or the attackers wanted DC to jump onto that bandwagon.
Our leaders are being played like clowns and thousands of Americans will die because of their ineptitude. The only rough spot in your theory, is why would Al Qeada align with the US after Osama Bin Laden was killed by Obama ? From my point of view, he either was already dead or was going to die with a terminal illness (on his death bed). So they decided to use Bin Ladens death as part of the deal with the devil. Obama would get his main campaign bullet point, he killed Osama, while Al Qeada would get Libya and eventually Syria. Same basic deal was made with the Muslim Brotherhood with respect to Egypt. So who is the devil in this deal ? Obama or Islamic Terrorists ?
