My guess is that if there was any indication of a link between decreased IQ or schizophrenia and alcohol use, there would have been a study. Heck, my grandmother was president of her local WCTU for 20 years, I can assure you they would have done a study if there was any suggestion of a connection.

Proof by guess - very impressive. My guess is that funding is more readily available for studies of illegal drugs, since the government hopes to bolster its case for the War On Drugs gravy train.
