The Movie Reviews

"Bad Ass" (Instant Play) with Danny Trejo, Charles S. Dutton, Ron Perlman, Joyful Drake, Patrick Fabian, John Duffy, Winter Ave Zoli, Danny Woodburn

Rated R for violence, nudity, and language, 2012

There is just something appealing about Danny Trejo, and he carries this movie very well. It's loosely based upon a true story about a Vietnam veteran who struggles to make a living after he returns home to Los Angeles from the war and from being a POW for a year. He is disappointed to find that the local constabulary are corrupt and racist. It is a feel-good story done quite well, and we gave it   ★★★★

"Rosewood Lane" (Instant Play) with Rose McGowan, Ray Wise, Bill Fagerbakke, Lesley-Anne Down, Lauren Vélez, Lin Shaye, Rance Howard, Ashton Moio, Judson Mills

Rated R for violence, 2011

This movie is like one of those jokes (only horror) that wind on and on, telegraph the punch line, and nearly bore you to sleep before the end. It went on seemingly forever. A radio psychologist, whose abusive father was found dead at the base of his cellar stairs, is unable to sell his house. She decides to move into it herself, and she is immediately greeted by a creepy paper boy whom a neighbor warned her to shun. But he keeps somehow getting into her house at will and rearranging her knick knacks (the HORROR!). More awful things happen - it is after all a horror movie. Any more information, and I'll spoil it, but it does have a twist ending that anyone can see coming. The acting was really very good, so we bumped it from two to   ★★★
