Some good news today, as Michigan and Arizona have both made decisions that they will not be setting up a health care exchange under ObamaCare.
In Arizona, Governor Jan Brewer declared yesterday that she will not direct the state government to set up an exchange.
In Michigan, Governor Rick Snyder has been trying to set up an exchange, but Speaker of the House Jase Bolger has declared that he will not bring the bill to establish exchanges to the floor. 3,500 people have already sent messages urging Michigan's top state officials to stand against ObamaCare, and the Speaker is listening. Keep the pressure on Governor Snyder - Michigan residents can Take Action by contacting his office HERE.

thank you
You need 38 states, not 34 for an amendment (75%). And although there is apparently a process by which states can pass an amendment without the approval of Congress, it hasn’t been done before.
There’s no victory in this at all. The states that don’t set up their own exchanges simply are allowing the Feds to set them up for them. I wouldn’t trust the Obama administration to set up exchanges for these states that are more favorable than exchanges they could have created on their own.
You need a vote in 34 state legislatures to start a Constitutional Convention, and 38 to ratify amendments. However, as the 27th amendment shows, there is no limit to how long we can leave an amendment out there until it is eventually ratified by 3/4 of the state legislatures.
34 to propose. 38 to ratify. :)
Here is a great article on why it is best the states do not set up the exchanges on their own:

As I understand it, forcing the feds to step in and set up Obamacare forces them to overstep their bounds and opens them up for massive lawsuits.
Oh good!
My state senator (Mike Shirkey) was a hospital administrator and board member for Allegiance Health care systems. He ran on his opposition to Obamacare and has always called it a disaster.
He was my sight unseen vote of 2010. I didn’t know much about him but voted for him because he was the republican and we’ve really lucked out with him. He’s working toward getting a right to work bill introduced now.
It’s called an Article 5 convention, but don’t say it too loud because there’s some who believe that it would be an invitation for Satan to appear and obuma to march his fat welfare momma brigade across the nation and eat everyone.
Here’s a brief synopsis:

The LAST thing I want to see is a new constitutional convention.
OK, now what would the wording be that would apply to reversing forever Obamacare?
A proposed amendment becomes part of the Constitution as soon as it is ratified by three-fourths of the States (38 of 50 States).
