Nonetheless, there are times when you should be first. In a job I had a few years ago, I pepper sprayed a gentleman in the face (perhaps I should say OUR face as he was so close). I was able to get in my car & drive away. At the same time, an officer from a different district called me to discuss a different report I wanted to make. I first told him of my current incident, then finished providing the information he’d called me about. When all done, I called my boss. He told me to call the police. I eventually lost that job, in part, due to my failure to immediately call 911.
Sounds like you screwed up.
