“At least you didn’t get prankish and shut off all the school’s lights!”

You know, now that you mention it, I vaguely recall thinking about something like that, but I was afraid to tamper with anything least I get electrocuted. We’re talking like 10 years old here, so I was ignorant of how those panels worked, but not so ignorant as to be unafraid of electricity in general. Quite frankly, at that age, that kind of fear is a good thing.

Really old construction would have been some sort of fuse boxes. That would be intimidating (and dangerous) enough, especially fuses with bare metal ends rather than screw base fuses. And even screw base fuses, you had to not be so much of a klutz as to stick a finger into the open fuse socket.
