Some states, like NC, give preference to those who have Conceal Carry Permits: they only require you to fill out Form 4473 and no call is made to the FibBIes, since they used to same system to vet you (and continue to vet you) for your CCP anyway.

Fast and as close to no Feds being involved as we can have under the present system.

Went to a small gun shop and range outside Chicago last Saturday hoping to get in a bit of range time. There had to be 30 people inside the shop with at least 10 waiting for a spot on the range. Couldn't even get close to the display cases to even view a pistol behind glass. Left after 2 minutes. Was disappointed that I didn't get a chance to shoot, but was glad to see so many people involved and wanted to do gun stuff.
