IQ tests measure a very narrow range of abilities that are related chiefly to successful academic performance. IQ tests do not provide an assessment of overall intellectual competence—A fact that seems to be lost on most people.
iq is highly correlated with a wide variety of positive social outcomes such as length of marriage, probability of not being incarceration, probability of being employed, income etc.
Doesn’t seem that narrow to me.
As I tell my students: Correlation is not causation.
