Hope ya’ll had a great Thanksgiving day!

I need suggestions. I was out on the back patio blasting holes in stuff with my old Hbar colt. I finally had to admit to myself... It’s time to throw some glass on her as my old eyes just don’t see so good any more!

Since the old girl has a carry handle instead of the Picatinny rail, I’d like to hear what you think is the hot set up for carry handle scope mount and optics on the AR 15!

There’s a tremendous amount of options out there (and I really like the EOtechs) but would value your opinions!

Price wise I’d like to keep it less than a first born son.

Fugheddabout the carry handle.
You’ll never use it and it interferes with scope positioning.

I have a Hakko Electro Point on my AR carry handle.

I’ve known folks to grind the carrying handles clean off, and attach a pic rail with screws and epoxy etc. The handle puts the scope up too high. You may consider that to be an atrocity, but I am a form follows function guy. If you plan to use the rifle with optics, and not to sell it, I’d just cut the damn handle off. A gunsmith can blend it in so you don’t even know it was there.

I run EOTech 516 on mine. Buttons on the side instead of the rear. But that won’t work with a handle.

Also, I can tell you that after 3 solid days of researching scopes and mounts, I still don’t know jack.

I had no idea it could get sooo complicated. Buying EOTechs took zero thinking. You buy it, mount it, and shoot it.

But the scope and mount world is mind numbing.

I have crappy eyes and EOTech works good for me. You can mount it in front of the carry handle. The closer it is mounted to your eye the more likely it is that the red dot will be fuzzy (if you wear glasses, anyway). There is a cantilever mount you can get to mount it on your carry handle if you want to.
