It may be unpopular to say so, but it is true: the U.S. is very close to, if not past, the tipping point at which the majority of the people are net beneficiaries of big government or so they think. People who receive a check from the government may see voting for a smaller government as contrary to their best interest. If they dont pay taxes, why should they care about a tax increase?
Perceptions are, however, deceiving.Healthcare reform, as the (Un)Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) is billed, probably shows more clearly than anything else how most Americans, including Romneys notorious 47%, are harmed by government benefits.
Lower wage earners, who produce real goods or provide a service their fellow Americans value, pay for those benefits even if theyre not liable for federal income tax. Fifteen percent is taken right off the top of their earnings for the Social Security/Medicare tax. This is 100% a tax, and 0% an investment. It is 100% spent, immediately, on other peoples entitlements, with a politicians promise that the workers may get an entitlement someday, paid for by future workers if they and the program survive long enough.
All Americans, including the working poor, will, as early as 2013, be hit with the medical device tax and the rest of some 18 ObamaCare-related tax hikes amounting to perhaps $500 billion. Starting in 2014 is the ObamaTax proper, the individual and employer mandate.

Social Security is completely unsustainable. Recipients receive much more than they paid in”””
Have you included this item in your calculations?::
Any person who has paid into Social Security-along with the matching funds from their employer gets only a ‘death benefit of $255 when they die-—before they draw a single month of a soc sec check.
There are millions of people who die/get killed/ etc, before they turn 65. They get nothing.
For two years now we have spent more money on Social Security than weve taken in:”””
Dirty Harry Reid still maintains that SS will last up to & thru about 2035. Most others say 2016 is the end.
He absolutely refuses to accept that SS is already in the red from the Feds taking out the money as soon as it arrives.
The better firms? They are now in a sense, they ask a gazillon questions to make sure you are what you say you are and the numbers match. also many have Errors and Omissions Insurance and the Penalities comeback to the preparers, so they are already covering their backside..... As far as the Mall types etc. unless they have this RTRP designation I don't seem them doing it...

It still doesn’t matter! THE PROGRAM SPENDS MORE THAN IT COLLECTS. It doesn’t matter if ALL the people die before receiving benefits, if the program is running in the red!
and then my sil...their dtr....who hurt her neck and was on SS disability for all of her kids young years...probably about 15....before she got "better" and took a phoney job with under the table money.....then she got disabled again....
so just in my extended family....didn't talk about my "disabled" bil...but there's several people drawing huge pay for very little contribution..
and yet myself with nearly 40 yrs of working in a hospital somehow I'm not "entitled"????
and yes, we are due it and you can call it entitled or a ponzi scheme whatever...
its a govt mandated ponzi scheme and I expect and demand to get what is owed me...
at least pay me back what I contributed and what my company contributed in my behave...
if you want to get uppity, go after your grandparents....that is the generation that got the golden egg....
you are out of line to tell someone like me after my near 40 yrs of working and paying in that somehow its wrong for me to expect it....
and btw....I can't even collect for 3 more years...so actually I'll have worked 43 yrs....
I don't want any "sugar" Mr. govt worker with a defined pension....I just want what I was mandated to pay in as well as what my employer was mandated to pay in for MY benefit in my later years...
Bite your tongue! I am a serial entrepreneur and I have *never, I repeat, NEVER* “worked” for the government, nor have I sucked off the government teat!
Needless to say, as a business owner, I have never had a pension nor have I ever accepted government handouts. ..and yes, Mr. Obama, I built that.
Social Security is bankrupt and anyone who depends on it is a fool. I would very, very willingly opt out today if given the option.
I’m very sorry if you expect Social Security—I hope you will not be disappointed by the government. The courts, however, have ruled that it ceased to be “your money” as soon as it was in the government’s hands. You are not, in fact, due the money and yes, it is a Ponzi scheme.
I am certain, after looking at the current situation, that I will never receive a dime from Social Security. I will not depend on the government for my retirement.
I would be a lot more worried about the brain-dead ‘health care’ workers you are going to be dealing with...the current crop isn’t much to speak of...
