The biggest losers will be car dealers, appliance and furniture manufacturers, recreational vehicles, restaurants and the vacation industry. When things get tight people put off major purchases, travel less and don’t eat out as often. Those industries employee millions of people in America. And the drop in employment and economic activity will ensure that the government gets far less with its tax increases than the static models are predicting. The government will get a bigger percentage of a smaller pie and end up with less money in real terms.
