Jackson’s seat, in the new term, can be vacant because he resigned, yesterday.
I thought that Clerk Orr would know the law, but, maybe, I was incorrect.
This is from an article on the WLS-TV site: “According to law, Gov. Pat Quinn has five days following the resignation to set the date for a special election to replace Jackson in Congress.
“That five days would expire on Monday and by Monday we’ll have the schedule prepared,” Gov. Pat Quinn said Wednesday.
The election has to be held within 115 days of the Governor’s announcement.”
The WGN-TV site states that Clerk Orr hopes that the elections will be held on Feb. 26 and April 9, but those dates would need to be approved by a judge, since that date, for the general election, would violate the state law, since it’s later than the limit, in the law.
Well I’m sure they can find a judge to agree with whatever they want since they don’t care about the law.
