Freedom of speech DOES apply to her. The federal government is not going to do a thing against her over her speech.
Unfortunately for her, though, for the rest of her life every employer who googles her name as part of pre-employment evaluation will have this incident come up. That employer will also be aware that there are people out there on the net who will never forget, and will let the world know that she is now employed at XYZ corp, and to let her employer know what you think of their hiring decision.
Her life is screwed.
Just for the pure stupidity, I mean she could have just shown the pic privately to her friends that might have gotten a hoot over it.....but it showed an incredible lack of judgement to publish that pic on a public forum......I pretty much keep my politics here on FR, I play it pretty close to the vest when it comes to things like FB; sure I might “Like” a certain candidate, but that’s about the extent of it. And even doing that, none of my liberal contacts have really ever said anything about it. Not as if anyone’s mind is going to be changed by an FB post anyway.
