I'm almost there myself. At least it was a time where a person can get a job, put in an honest days work and raise a family.

Things like sex were private. I get into trouble for saying this, I don't care who would have sex with as long as it is private, consentual and at or above the age of consent. Deep down, I don't care who you marry deep down inside as long as the above standards are met. I don't care who or what you worship as long as they don;t tell you to fly planes into buildings or sacrifice people or animals. I see myself as a bit of a libertarian where the Feds should have no say in it and leave it to each State or locality to tailor their society much like the Constitution intended to be. Still, being largely a Judeo-Christian country with a a Western based outlook that came from Greece and Rome, we are based on those values and like any other religion, Jews and Christians have the right to practice their beliefs and to have them. I admit I like to make up my own mind where my morals and thoughts lie.

Saying that, I am conservative socially, I just don't want the government much to do with it but I don't want the government to prohibit it either. I know I walk a tightrope here and yes, I do get both sides mad at me at times, but it is up to the people themselves to do the right thing and the values will trickle up on their own.

Hound, if there is a force to make Church laws, or any other religion, as the rule of the State, I support you, but to show kids a cartoon or have a discussion about Christmas or Hannukah in school is no problem.

I just want to enjoy Christmas and remember "the reason for the season" without getting "Pearl Harbored" by various special interest groups. Plus, even though there are times we can disagree, I do applaud people who hold onto their values.

Still, the way things are going, I'd take a time like the 1950's, even with the problems we had then.
