EDITORIAL: Obama ducks Benghazi

President Obama took responsibility last week for his administration’s actions in Benghazi, Libya. He insisted those criticizing U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice for misleading the American people regarding the terror attack ought to come after him instead. This week, administration leakers are passing the buck.

Unnamed sources within the administration say that someone in the Office of Director of National IntelligenceJames R. Clapper removed references to “al Qaeda” and “terrorism” from Mrs. Rice’s talking points, with CIA and FBI concurrence. According to this version of events, Mr. Obama, his national security staff and the State Department had nothing to do with it. The reason, they say, is the evidence of terrorism was considered too tenuous to be released. CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan reported “there was not strong confidence in the person providing the intelligence” about links to al Qaeda.

Numerous unclassified reports in hours and days after the assault gave a clear picture of exactly what happened, and the links to terrorism were obvious. The attack was a planned, violently executed and anything but spontaneous. The U.S. government had all the tools at its disposal to verify this in short order, including real-time communications intercepts, on-the-scene drone surveillance video, interviews with members of Libyan intelligence agencies and analysis of terror group activity before, during and after the attack. To say the entire U.S. intelligence community was only able to base its assessment of a critical incident on a single, less-than-reliable human source is laughable. Even if the specific al Qaeda connection was tenuous, it’s nearly impossible to conclude it wasn’t a terrorist plot.

Remember when the D's blamed Bush for 911 because he had "invaded" Iraq? But they forgot that 911 happened before Iraq. Remember when D's blamed Bush for all the IED attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan for soldiers putting underwear on terrorists prisoners heads and forming them into a pyramid? Remember when they blamed Bush for attacks from al Quaeda because someone had flushed an entire book, the koran, down the toilet?

Obama spends months everyday saying we have killed Osama and "alqueda is on the run" or "alqueda is on its heals" plus outright assassinating leaders of alqeuda all over the world with drone strikes? Can you imagine what the D's and the press would say if Bush was killing (murdering?) suspected terrorists from 20,000 feet without a trial? One of them an American citizen?

Wasn't a big alqueda leader assassinated from 20,000 feet just days before the attack? Obama was bragging about that too. Yet no one is saying Obama caused the terrorists attack due to his big mouth and coward assassinations?

Plus wasn't there a huge attack on a command center in Afghanistan within days of this attack? It destroyed a bunch of military equipment, killed some soldiers all in the most heavily fortified camp in the nation?

Remember when George Steponallofus used to read the names of fallen soldiers in Iraq weekly on the air, more soldiers have died in the last 4 years under Obama then under G. Bush 6 years, don't know the exact number as the press is not talking about it or featuring fallen soldiers biography's or names. In fact the D's are making sure the soldiers in Afghanistan and elsewhere are not receiving their ballots on time. Anybody heard a story about that lately? How many soldiers were disenfranchised by the D's by deliberately not sending the ballots on time?
